Seasonal Flowers

Summer :

 

DAHLIA

Dahlia is a genus of bushy. There are at least 36 species of dahlia. Flower forms are variable, with one head per stem; these can be as small as 2 in diameters or up to 1 ft. They have 8 sets of homologous chromosomes, whereas most plants have only 2.Dahlia also contains many transposons- genetic pieces that move from place to place upon an allele – which contributes to their manifesting such great diversity. Their stems are leafy, ranging in height from as low as 12 in (30 cm) to more than 6-8 ft.


SUNFLOWER

 

Sunflowers commonly grow to heights between 1.5 and 3.5 m. The tallest sunflower is 8.0 m surpassing the previous record of 7.8 m.

Sunflower is an annual plant native to the Americans. The sunflower is named after its huge, fiery blooms, whose shape and image is often used to depict the sun. The head consist of many individual flowers which mature into seeds, often in the hundreds, on a receptacle base. Leaves of the sunflower can be used as cattle feed, while the stems contain a fibre which may be used in paper production.




Autumn :


ASTER      
Aster is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. The name Aster comes from the Ancient Greek word aster meaning “star” referring to the shape of the flower’s head.

Aster species are used as food plants by the larvae of a number of Lepidoptera species. Aster can grow in all hardiness zones. Asters are also called as Star-wort, Michaelmas Daisies, or frost flower. Aster flower can be white, red, pink, purple, lavender and blue, mostly with yellow center.




Spring :




ZINNIA

Zinnia leaves are opposite and usually stalk less, with a shape ranging from linear to ovate, and pale to middle green in color. The flowers have a range of appearances from a single row of petals, to a dome shape, with the color white, chartreuse, yellow, orange, red, purple and lilac.



 

Zinnia are popular garden flowers, usually grown from seed, and preferably in fertile, humus rich and well drained soil, in an area with full sun. They will re seed themselves each year. Zinnia also known as Zinnia Violacea is the most familiar species. Its leaves are lance shaped and sand papery in texture, and height ranges from 15 cm to 1 meter.    


Winter :

 Sweet Pea



Sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) is a flowering plant in the genus Lathyrus in the family Fabaceae (legumes), native to the eastern Mediterranean.
It is an annual climbing plant, growing to a height of 1–2 meters (nearly six feet and six inches), where suitable support is available.
 The leaves are pinnate with two leaflets and a terminal tendril, which twines around supporting plants and structures helping the sweet pea to climb. The flowers are purple, 2-3.5 centimeters broad, in the wild plant, larger and very variable in colour in the many cultivars
